8.8 spool...

Just wanted to get people advice and opinions on install, and product choice.

My plan is to run a Strange steel spool, with Strange 31 spline axels.
Any reasons why I should consider some other brand other than Strange?
Is there such a thing as "Over-kill" when it comes to axels?
Is this something I can do in my garage(I don't have a bearing press)?

Thanks in advance...

Strange is good. No such thing as over kill with axles. Don't forget the 9" ends or at least C-clip eliminators. I'd have the housing jigged and welded too.

Not sure what you mean by " 9" ends"?
C-clip eliminators I have already, just going to make sure their good and throw them back on if they are ok.
LOL, what would they be welding sorry but, I've never done any work with the rear-end before and have no idea what thats all about?

9" ends means they cut your axle tubes and weld on 9" ends which a 9" housing has the bearings that bolt to the housing. If you have c-clip elims your good

"Robert says that out of the hundreds of rears he's checked for trueness, he's only encountered two that didn't have issues."

This is key right here. This is why a jig needs to be used when welding the axle tubes.
