Does any one have a way to

Does any one have a way to tell if a c4 is 1967-1969 or 1970 and up?

I have decided to buy the parts from summit to rebuild my C4. I took it apart last night and the clutches are shot.

I am looking to a TCI rebuild kit and a reverse manual valve body and also a hardened input shaft.

Does any one have any other parts from summit that they suggest?

Thanks.

TCI 521500 - TCI Trans-Brake Valve Body Kits
vs
TCI 521000 - TCI Full Manual Valve Bodies

I am confused with what to do here... or if i want a trans brake or not... not sure.

NO NO NO buy your parts from dan/silverfox dude he is way cheap and knows all of the upgrades for your transmission and will build you a valve body for a little more than a damn cheap shift kit......

gonna need a transbreak if you want to see true stall speeds on a off the shelf converter...I had alan at dirtydog build my converter....what are you going to stall to?
Dan can answer all your questions too and is a great guy he would literally tell me well my price on this is xx.xx order that from summit or whatever cause you can get it cheaper there

Yeah it will be cheaper then summit? hmm i really have no idea what to do concerning a trans brake and what stall to get or if i even want either at all. I was debating just geting a manual valve body and using the trq converter thats in the car all ready ( its looks new ) i have no idea where the stall is set too if not stock. Whats the number to this guy and where is he located?

Thx man

More than likely its not a 67-69. Do you have the trans out of the car?

The 67-69 tranny's have a breather tube coming out the drivers side of the tranny toward the top. The later tranny's have a little mushroom shaped breather instead of the tube. That is the easiest way to tell.

you can get a hold of him on Click Click Racing his screen name is silverfox his real name is dan...and yeah cheaper than summit...if he cant get a part cheaper than someone else he will tell you what to get and where....very cool guy....he builds valve bodies and sells them and some other custom parts is where he makes his money that and rebuilding transmissions locally but is very cool about helping people out that dont live close enough for him to do the work

Count the splines on the converter end of the input shaft. If its 26 spline its a 71 and newer trans.

to upgrade to a 26 spline you'll need the 26 spline shaft, pump, reverse/high cluth drum, forward clutch drum, and the #3 thrust washer.

to get all this it would probably be cheaper to go to a pull a part or salvage yard and get a late model C4 for bout $100-$150. then rebuild it. rebuild the old one back to stock and sell it. somebody will buy it.

i dunno. the local pull a part here charges $100 for a trans. i wouldnt pay anymore than the core charge on it. how much that is you'll have to call around and ask. but again without a guarantee that it runs (meaning its a core) i wouldnt pay anymore than $100-$125.

hmm so here are my options let me know what you would do.

I have this c6 trans Ford c6 automatic transmission ( trying to sell it ) now i could put this in for this season while i save up for a redneck c4 complete offline.

or should i try and build this 24 spline c4

or should i get a new core and do that up.

I have around 700.00 cash to spend and i can all ways save up some more. but i would like my car rolling asap.

Do yourself a favor and buy a PA or Dynamic C4.
