steel crank

I was reading the stroking basics thread and i came across this

Despite everything you have
likely been told in bench racing circles, street engines do not need steel or billet crankshafts. High-
nodular iron crankshafts (also known as cast steel) work quite well for street use in applications up
to 500 horsepower. If you’re going to supercharge or throw high concentrations of nitrous at your
engine, a steel crankshaft becomes mandatory in the interest of engine survival. If you do weekend
road racing with your driver, a steel crank is good life insurance for your engine. Weekend drag
racers don’t always need a steel crankshaft because the high-stress experience is brief, unless you
are using nitrous or supercharging.

Now i thought the bottom end of my motor was stock... but i talked to my dad and when he replaced the oil pan gasket he said that i have a steel crank. so maybe my bottom end is bored and stroked hopefully... =)

let me know what you guys think

thx

I think anyone that puts a forged crank in a stock 302 block, should have spent there money somewhere else.

its a 351w. What im suggesting is that maybe they did spend the money some where else... and that's why it has the steel crank...

It doesn't matter if you have a steel crank or not. It isn't going to give you any more horsepower and it isn't going to help you at all because your engine isn't make enough horsepower to require it.

Post a picture of it.

Ill take some pics in a few days when i get the motor out, I gotta figure out what transmission i am gonna get and shit first. I know it doesn't add hp its for strength but what confused me is why would they add one if the motor doesn't have over 400 hp? which leads me to believe that it might have better numbers then we think.

Ill post a pic of one of the clutches in the trans u gotta see how bad it is im honestly surprised the car was able to move at all lol

The new steel plates will look like that after some miles. Not a big deal from what I can see in the pictures.
