Today is the day...!
Well, I've got everything ready and I'm going to pick up the trailor to head out for my tune. My appointment is at 3pm with Bob Kurgan, I'll hopefully have some decent numbers... or better yet have no problems with the car while it's on the dyno. I'm hoping to have video and pictures from the dyno tune, if not I'll just post up the chart.... assuming nothing blows up. Wish me luck!

Ok, so I'm back.... and I still have a motor. First off, Bob is one of the nicest and calmest guys I've ever met. He explained everything before he did it, and then explained why things improved with what he changed. With the SCT chip, and 3-pulls the car put down 312HP 342TQ and makes HP to 6,300. Overall I'm extatic, I couldn't be happier with the numbers, and the way the car feels. So here is the final pull, and a quik trip down the street.

Not wanting to be negative nancy, but that seems a touch low for a stroker motor, ive seen stock shot blocks with just a heads and cam package put down 300-310hp.
what was your timing and fueling looking like?

I agree, numbers seem low. I've made 320+ to the wheels with out of the box Twisted Wedges, TFS stage 2 cam and 302-306 cubic inches many times with no tuning other than timing and fuel pressure. What injectors do you have? Maybe they are maxed out??? Did Bob think anything was wrong with the numbers? I guess the numbers really don't matter, the track will tell you how it performs. If you are happy with it, that is all that matters.

Very true, would just hate to see power left on the table, esp with some decent coin sunk into the motor build up

hey guys..
first off, the dyno we use reads extremely conservative. My own race car makes 80rwhp less on our dyno then on speed inc's dyno. The owner of the shop recently bought speed inc's twin turbo shop car and we put it on the dyno after it was tuned at speed inc. At speed, his car made just shy of 1200rwhp. On our dyno, it made 1087rwhp... NOTHING CHANGED!! We attribute it to the Eddy current load cell that we have... I also tuned a renegade car from St. Louis who was owned by a shop owner down there. We made 808 rwhp and he went home and made 888 on his dyno.. Anyhow, i had to be conservative. Why you ask?? Well, there was NO TIMING POINTER ON THE CAR!!! I had to "guesstimate" on setting the timing to 10degrees... If this were a blown or turbocharged car, i would have passed on it.. I have done enough fox bodys to get a good idea on where the pointer is located, but i wanted to be safe. Scott was nervous from the get-go and i didnt want anything to happen. His first comment when he got there was "where can i go smoke" LOL.. Anyhow, before we made a pull, i told him that i was expecting 300-310rwhp and around 320+ tq... this is what these cars make ON OUR DYNO! Remember, this was an unported set of heads and a TFS intake.. anyhow, thanks bob |
