I don't think I've ever seen wire mess in the lifter valley and I don't think wire mesh in the lifter valley is going to do anything for an engine that lets go. What "lets go" is typically something in the bottom end which will not effect the upper half of the engine. If a valve breaks or anything else in the valve train breaks or lets go it will either end up in the cylinder or in the bottom end via the oil return passages in the heads.

Wire mesh belongs in chicken coops and ricers.

Ok I figured out were I saw it....... the guy who builds my motors "Mike Stevens" an IHRA rail car driver was building a motor and he put wire mesh over the oil galley so if the motor blew up parts wouldnt fall on to his crank! thats were I saw it. So have you ever herd of that or is that just one of his tricks?

A rail car like a top alcohol car or top fuel car? Don't even pay attention to what they do because it has nothing to do with anything we drive. Those are animals of a different breed.

No I've never seen it and don't know what purpose it would serve.

4.20 in the 1/8 naturally aspirated? Damn, that is about as fast as the top alcohol cars go. He must have a fortune in that car.

His dad own a race shop in cali I think the name of it is west coast performance? I'm not shure. He says the purpose is to save his crank if the motor goes.

I dint think wire mesh in the lifter vally will do any good. the only thing that could fall into the lower motor are lifter, and pushrods, and the mesh couldn't stop that from happening.

Are you talking in the oil pan? Like a windage tray bolted to the main caps? That is to keep oil off the crank. Oil is heavy and when the crank is slinging it around it costs horsepower. Are you sure he isn't talking about a main girdle? That can save the crank in case of engine failure....it should at least keep it in the block and off of the race track anyway.
