True statement. Lower operating temperature increases cylinder wear. That doesn't mean that hotter is better, it means that the common myth that running a 160 degree thermostat or no thermostat at all is BS. A 160 degree thermostat will increase cylinder wear, catalytic converter damage, keep the computer in warm up mode (causing more conservative timing curve) and the computer will never reach closed loop mode.

good too know i just put in a 195 because somone told me to not go with a 180 but im taking out the ac and its condenser to put in a new radiator and want to go down to 180


gets fucking hot in nv

We run no t stat in all of our race cars that I pit with, but they are all strictly race cars with no street miles.

That is what I do with my stuff too. I run a Moroso restrictor. I let the fan and water pump run between rounds and I think the restrictor helps everything cool better in that respect.

Thats exactly what we do too... except none of us have restrictors... just run the pumps and the fans back at the pits with the car on a battery charger off the generator for about twenty minutes... works great Except my car wont have an electric water pump yet...
