Not sure what is meant by a factory car or a dealer t-top.
i got them from late model, they were only like $150, another $25 for the felt liner.
i see they carry the t-top holder bags now, very very hard to find origonal

I have my originals bags and hold downs safe and sound. Some of the cars where sent from the factory to be cut into t top cars. Some where sent buy the dealers to be done. There are a couple different kinds of t top the pillar length varies on the weather striping. I want to replace all of the weather striping every bit while you can still get it. So did yours fit pretty good. I did not get any pics of my car but got one of my buddies in the middle of being clearing the engine bay last night as soon as we get it out we can get mine in.going to work on it now.

How can i tell if it is factory or dealer?
the weather strips fit pretty good, some small trimming, but all in all not bad.
The hard part was realigning the windows and the t-tops which i had no idea there was adjustments for. that is a serious pain in the ass, if you need a manual on how to do it i will try and post it.

See mine is going to be a super pain in the ass. I took my side glass out and had it polished because i could not find new glass i am putting all new glass in it. So my tracks are all messed up and i added power windows plus had to replace the driver door with a convertible door and convert it over. I had the dealer run my vin to find out if it was dealer or factory installed. T tops can be expensive and a pain in the ass but there is nothing like cruising on a nice spring day with them out.

If I decide to go with a stroker shortblock, will the parts I currently plan on buying swap on without any issues? I would like for now to just get the exhaust from header back and possibly a few other small things here and there.

Here are some pics of my 86 sad to see but in a few weeks it will be insane We have a plain finish this car for a friend. Then we are going to put my cobra hood and bumpers on my 97 and paint them. Then we have another friends car to paint to make some money and buy a new air compressor and then we are going to do my 86 and do it right. As you can see i have all the paint to do it.I think i am going to build a twin turbo motor for the 86 and use the fogl ight holes for the intakes on the turbos.

My damaged new finder that i had all blocked out and all holes filled and ready for paint.

looks good. what paint do you use, i stuck to ppg, and looking to try something different. Have you tried this R-M paint, or suggest anything else? i like to use urathane single stage opposed to base clear.

Not sure on original miles, cluster seems to be swapped out as 86ttops said it does not look like the GT cluster.

I used dupont on my 86 the first time and have painted 5 or6 cars with it but i bought ppg paint and dupont top of the line clear. I and have done a couple cars with ppg. We are using house of colors paint on the car we are doing. Bad thing about single stage is you can't get alot of the metallics and nicer colors in it. I done one car with single stage and shot clear over that and got a very glassy look it was a nice look. I think out of all i would go with ppg. Dupont seems to be more watered down but they are more painter friendly like has mixing ratios on the can.

DO NOT mix House of Kolor products with any other products. They have some sort of proprietary formula that f$%ks up a finish if you do.
