What is the diffence between a 86 a arm and a 87 up a arm?

Anyone no what the difference is? I have a 86 but have 95 spindles and ball joints for the 5 lug conversion.I think the difference is in 87 they changed the geometry for better ride this is why i am looking at using them i want to go with tubular and some new lowering springs.

I think one is longer than the other cause I have one of each on my car so I have one with a spring isolater and one without so that my car will sit level, I didnt know there was a differnce when I replaced mine

+1

I do think the balljoints are different on the 86 and earlier Mustangs due to a difference in spindles. 86 and earlier had wimply little brakes and such in the front but I don't think length or geometry of the control arm is different.

hell you can bolt up the 94 and ups, just gotta use the 94 and up spindle, believe it sticks out just a smidge or stands a smidge taller

I'd like to see that done. How would you correct the steering geometry? The SN95 control arms are about an inch and a half longer than the fox body arms. I just went thru this on a 95 Cobra not too long ago. Fox body control arms suck the tires in so far that it looks like shit and there is no way to adjust it so the tire sits flat.....short of moving the strut towers in further. I can only see this problem being the opposit on a fox body with an SN95 control arm. The spindle has nothing to do with it, its the control arm length that is going to cause the problem.

Darrell~ not sure if this would help, but maybe finding a different offset wheel would do the trick?

i think you would get into either putting the wheel and tire so far in that it rubs or sticking it out so far the it looks messican. and it still wouldnt make up for it being improper.

The different offset won't make a difference. The camber is still going to be so far off that the best caster/camber plates on the market won't have enough adjustment to correct it. The difference in length on the control arm moves the bottom of the tire in or out, the top (strut mount) stays in the same spot.
