IDK, but my trans shudders durring idle, I thought it was the motor. I broke out the stethoscope and proded around, it was coming from my input shaft area.

My car does the same thing jb. sounds like a bolt was being tossed around in my oil pan for a while on my old motor. I put the new one in and was so mad. I couldn't figure out why it was doing it. Well stethescope to the belhousing told me it was the trans. And the noise went away when I put the clutch in. I have a 3550 with what looks like a king cobra clutch on maybe the stock flywheel. idk what the stocker looks like.

Dont wait for the dummy light to come on, ussually by then its too late.
Yeah bro I hate to say it but this sounds really bad. I mean motor knocking and you tell us the low oil light comes on alot and you dont have pressure for the first minute? When your oil is low enough for that light to come on its BAD...also what would you do if that light burned out or quit working. Dont trust stuff like that on an old car or even a newer car for that matter. Good luck bro and hope its not too late.....let us know when you find out

Are you talking about the low oil light or the low oil pressure light? Those are two totally different things. Some fox body Mustangs have a sensor in the oil pan that senses the oil level.

the only time I ever had one come on was in a blazer and when I checked I didnt even have anything on the dipstick....newer cars are better about it but remember with older cars just like anything else..sensors fail...new ones too...I would not be using that light instead of a dipstick.....bad wire, fuse, sending unit, etc. could cause bad problems
