WTF is up with my clutch

Last month I had the clutch setup fine, it would engage and disengage with no grinds, even though it engaged right off the ground..

Now when I try to put it in gear, it wont let me and just grinds.. so I thought the cable was loose..

Well the cable is all the way tight.. I can not possibly tighten it any more...

Anyone have any ideas?

I keep getting confused as how the whole cable setup works.. would a fire wall adjuster help or make the tight sitiuation worse?

does it grind all the time, or when moving, or when starting off in first?

you need to put your foot through the floor for it to fully engage? yeah mine used to be like that. i got a firewall adjuster, cable, and a ford racing aluminum quadrant and adjusted at the fork and firewall. mine is perfect

still factory quadrant yes.

It was a bitch to put on, so i just threw the cable on in hopes of getting it to a friends shop where he said he would put the quadrant on for me.

I have a steeda triple hook somewhere.

Get rid of that factory clutch quadrant before you do anything else. Its not as hard of a job as it looks.

Removing the clips is the easiest part. They just pull off. If you pull the dash out it makes the job alot easier but it takes more time that way. I usually just recline the driver seat all the way and slide the seat back all the way. Then lay up side down under the dash. The job takes about 30 minutes.

Oh sure, that's real easy to do if you're 20'somthing and 5'8", 150lbs but if you're just a couple years shy of 50 and 6'4", 280lbs it's next to impossible. Pulling the dash will give you better access and you'll not have to play "acrobat" and stand on your head to get to it. If you don't think you want to tackel it then take it to a shop and give em' a few bucks to do the work.

4 seat bolts<taking the dash out.

I just unbolt my seats to work on the quadrant.

+1 10 min to get the seat out 30 min to pull and replace the parts and that's with me get out once to throw up from laying upside down. That's at 6-4 265 not 5-8 and a buck 50

well my seat is out. and i can't take it to a shop to do it because my clutch wont engage in the first place.

But seriously, do I have freakin hulk hands or something? I do not see how the clips are the easiest part.

u aint gotta pull the dash. pull ur seat, lie on ur back, and use some long plyers to pull the clips. its doable and worth the trouble.

Fuck quadrants.

I'm done.

Clutch feels much better.

Adjustments are in the middle on the cable end and firewall adjuster.

I will forever pay people to put these pieces of shit in.
