"Adjusting the transmission"?

I may or may not be buying a 5.0 I'm looking at on craigslist. The man says "it may need the transmission adjusted..." or something along those lines, WTF does that mean?!

I'll translate it for you. "The transmission is junk but instead of saying that and scaring away potential customers I'll just make up some bullshit about it needing an adjustment".

Ha, thanks, I dont know, granted it'll be a while before I have the money saved... I want a fox so bad, and I want one that may need a little work (mainly cosmetic) but I dont wanna end up over my head with a heap that's not worht half of what I'm paying.. or having to pay substantial amounts to make it road worthy. I'm okay driving a car that looks ehhhh as long as I've got it as a work-in-progress. But I'm not okay driving a car that's not drivable! (yes I am aware of that statements loopiness).

So I reread the emails, and its a "clutch adjustment" what could that be?

Say I needed a whole new clutch? I wouldn't be able to do it myself (would I)? And how big of a headache would it be?

could be that it needs a new clutch or it just needs an adjustment. adjusting the clutch means to adjust where it engages (closer to the floor or further away from the floor).

Ha ha the asshole that sold me my car told me the same shit and he lived on a dirt road so when I test drove it I couldn't tell the the clutch was slipping cause it never had areal load. As soon as I hit pavement It started slipping. I called the guy the minute I left and he accused me of Beating on it. I talked shit and asked for three hundred bucks back but he shot me down. But the I ironic part was he left his work blackberry and his garage door opener In the car. He called me up the next day and apologized and asked for his shit and I told him he could have it for 3 bills. He paid up all pissed I bought a clutch and quadrant and swapped it In an after noon.
