check engine light on but not pulling any codes
So when my car gets to normal temp the check engine light comes on but my code reader won't pull any codes. The code reader will work with my year car (89) and dose work because ive used it to pull codes from my brothers 88 mustang. Not sure if would make a difference but my smog pump is unhooked and so is the black box (cant remember what its called) on the passenger side in the front of the engine bay that returns fuel vapors to the gas tank. Any ideas?

the light in my car has been on so long I don't think it would run right if it went out. lol

It's could be from taking the canister off. That was the deal with mine.

Wouldn't the vapor canister cause a check engine light?
