MSD locations

I have an 86 and was woundering where people are mounting their MSD units, pics would be appreciated. Mine was mounted on the shock tower but it was right above the headers. seems to me like a poor place to mount it.
anyone tried the fire wall?
cheers

I have seen them on the firewall, next to the battery, drivers footwell ( inside cab ), under MAF, ect... The posibilities are pretty endless on where to mount it.

Sorry, Dont have any pics though.

Its best if its out of the weather as much as possible but it needs air to cool off.

Inside the car if possible not in the engine bay if you can avoid it. I like high up the passenger side floor up by the fire wall.

thats a good place but then again you run into cooling issues. I have it mounted there in my drag car but the car only runs for a few seconds at the time.

Mount it inside the car if you can to keep it away from heat and the weather. Heat is the number one killer of MSD ignitions, yet so many people insist on mounting them in the engine compartment.

You will not run into any cooling issues mounting it inside the car. Many people do this. This is where I mount all of my MSD boxes on every car I touch and I've never had a failure.

i have mine where the battery used to sit, i also have cutouts in the hood so the bay stays (semi) cool in contrast to the stock setup

Mine is mounted inside the drivers side fender outside the engine compartment about where the starting solenoid is. Kind of a PITA to get to it because you have to take the tire off or play around with the plastic fender well to get it out of the way to get access. The wiring is easy though because it is close to the ignition and the battery. It is not a daily driver and I only have it out in good weather so YMMV

my box is mounted behind the radio but i have no air box so its a little easier for me. but i believe there is still plenty of room even if the air box is still there.
