Anyone Running Cobra R's on a fox step in....

i just bought a set used for my fox.

They are 17x9's

fronts have 245/45/17

rears are 275/40/17

wanting to see what others are running TIRE WISE

I put the rear tires on and they hit the quad shock. Well more of rub. So I am going to reverse the quad shock. I was told to do this from the guy I bought them from.

ANYONE ever reversed there quad shock?

I need NEW tires up front. The ones that are on the wheels up front are pretty much shot. Why are the front 45 series and the rear 40 series. Was wondering should I put 45s again up front or go with 40's like the rear.

Flipping the quads is common with big tires or you can remove them completely if you have aftermarket rear lower control arms.

The reason the aspect ratio of the tires is different is to keep them closer to the same height. A 245/45-17 is roughly the same height as a 275/40-17. If you put a 245/40-17 on the front it would look retarded and the tire wouldn't have any sidewall to it.

makes sense to me. Thanks Darrell

I'll get pics up as soon as I reverse the quad shock and get everything all said and done.

Now I'm on a mission to price new tires for the front.

And I already know the fronts rub if you cut the wheel alllllll the way. Anyway around that. Or just don't turn the steering wheel as much?

91-93 Mustangs have limited steering which is why they don't rub. 87-91 have more steering travel so they do rub. I'm not sure if it is in the rack or tie rod ends or what. Maybe someone else will chime in that knows.

I have the same rim and tire combo front and back. My fronts rub when I cut the wheel. I have no turning radius anymore, and my rears rub whenever I hit a bump. Mine are mickey t's and my car is slammed.

I'm running black cobras but have 17x8 on the front and 17x9 in the back, I run 255/40/17 all around with no problems, though I did have to flip my quad and could not longer use the new KYB quad shocks I was using I had to go back to stock ones.

why did you have to flip your quads with a 255? thats weird..i would get wheel spacers or something so the KYB would work

My KYBs didn't fit so for some reason I thought my stocks wouldn't fit the regular way either...and since then I have been take 21 credit hours of college each semester and 12 credit hours every summer and just haven't had time to mess with it again. To be quite honest, I actually just never thought about getting wheel spacers though. I will be looking into that.

On my lowered 88, I have 235/45 on 17x9 on Cobra clones and they rub before full lock in the front. I don't know the exact backspacing so I guess you can't really directly compare.
I had a problem with them on my stock 91 as well but I don't think it was from arm rubbing, I think maybe the strut was hitting them during quick direction changes, maybe my upper strut bushing is worn out.

do the front tires on yours seem to stick out to much just a bit. Wish I had 17x8's up front. Might fit a little better. The 17x9's just seem to be a little to much for up front. I had to buy all 4 do I just took em. Still better than turbines.

I gave $450 for all everything. THe back tires are good the fronts were shot.

you think $450 was a good deal?

Get some of those plastic bushings to go on your rack. That will limit the amount of turn radius so your tire won't rub.

I have with a 245 555r on front - tight turns they rub. They dont stick out and look wicked.

Back has 275 Nittos with no quad - never rubs.
