what transmission
so my t5 tranny crapped out on me
so what does that mean time to spend so money. so my question to yall is which tranny would you pick. tremec T5, TKO500, or TKO600?

can someone tell me about the tko 500 & 600 and the 3550? i dont understnad. i know they are heavier duty but i have heard people cant shift as well with them and stuff. is a g force t5 better than those? or doing a t56 swap

500 + 600 here for Ford and GM:
TR-3550 TKO TREMEC 5 speed 3550 3550/TKO The top 1 is about the 500 + 600 even though title says different.

T5's suck but they have there advantages... they weigh allot less, can be found anywhere for cheap, and shift like butter. If any of those sound good then go with a killer rebuild from astro performance.
Tremecs are built to handle more power out of the box. I personally have a 3550 and a t56 and from expersion with other tremecs pretty much any tremec you get is going to be notchy when shifting meaning it's not smooth throws, there notchy.. kind of hard to explain but you get good positive shifts. The t56 is in between the notchy tremecs and the smooth t5's but can take a beaten. Parts cost is more expensive for tremec transmissions and the t56 over the t5 also. So I'd say figure out what power level you will be going to and go with whatever trans is built for that level of power. |

My Tremec 3550 is a good solid dependable tranny - It is definately a notchier shifting transmission though.

The tko 500/600 is the replacement for the 3550. Tremec bought a patent for making stronger gears that gave them the ability to drastically increase the torque rating of the trans. The difference between the 500 and 600 is the size of the first gear. You can also order the trans with a "road race" 5th gear. Send me your email and I'll send you some spreadsheets made by Tremec that describes some of the differences in their line-up.
