91-92 LX questions

i currently have a 2007 GT, and i might pick up a 91-92 LX for a daily driver. it has 60k miles and is really clean, it is all stock. i want to just change the exhaust and CAI. i want to keep it a reliable DD. i dont know squat about the 5.0's, so heres the question: if i change the CAI and o/r h pipe, will i get a CEL, and if so how do i get rid of it, would i need a tuner or a chip?

what is CEL? you will be fine if you change the intake and exhaust. Do a FULL exhaust though, headers and all. It's worth it

CEL, i mean check engine light. if i delete the cats it should run ok, and not give me a check engine light?
and depends if the foxbody grows on me i might use the 07 as the DD.

ok sounds good. heres a pic of the LX, it has 60k miles, and is real clean, all stock the price he wants is $3500. and the owner is a mechanic or a tech at a dealership who has 3 cars and wants to sell this one bc he just bought a new mustang. what do you think?

It's worth the money if there's no rust.. check the wheel wells, underside of the doors and underside of the rear hatch.

You won't receive a CEL if you modify the exhaust in anyway and same goes for the intake. Just be sure to go with an off road (no cats) h or x pipe if your deleting the smog pump because if you delete just the smog pump and leave the stock cats in they'll over heat and either clog promptly or catch on fire. Just a little FYI for you

Good luck

i'm thinking o/r h pipe and flowmaster super 44's or 10 series single chamber, not sure if the 10 series will sound good tho.

i had a friend who's had a few fox's told me the same about the single chamber flows too. so i think i'll go w/ the 44's. but i'm getting a little ahead of myself here. i havent even looked at the LX in person yet, but i hope its good.

I don't know why you would want a rougher riding car with less accessories to use as a daily driver. As for the sound, you can make a 4.6 sound good. My dad put a Magnaflow exhaust on his with high flow cats and it sounds awesome.

damn, that car is identical to my '92. look at pics in my garage.

mine was listed for $4200 a couple of years ago but i paid $3500 for it.

and to answer your question, foxbody mustangs don't have OBDII which means you don't have to get a tune every time you install a new part like you do on the newer mustangs. that's one of the reasons fox bodies are so great

You don't have to get a tune any time you install a new part on the newer Mustangs either.
