Non HO motor into 91 Mustang

I am putting a temporary 5.0 into a 91 GT Mustang out of an 88 Marquis. I have all the stuff off the Mustang to put on the Marquis motor. I know the firing order is different. The question...Can I get by placing a 531W flat tappet camshaft into it? This should correct the firing order problem. I just want to make sure the injectors fire correctly and that the distributor gear will work. I am being a cheapskate as I don't want to spend the extra money to put the roller lifters in it also (89 bucks vs 300 bucks). thoughts?

Why don't you just buy a 302 HO? A non HO 302 isn't going to be much if any cheaper than a HO 302 and buy the time you swap cams like you want and all of the gaskets that go along with it you will have more money into the non HO 302.

I found a 91 GT camshaft, pushrods and lifters on craigslist. I'll just swap out the cams and drill the bosses for the spider, no biggie. I was asking more from a technical prespective in case anyone knew why the 351W camshaft wouldn't work. I have done it in the past on carb engines but didn't know how bad it would screw with the EFI on later model engines. All the parts mentioned is stuff I got laying around. I have two roller engines sitting in my shop. I didn't want to get rid of them for free if I can make the 88 motor work........

Swapping a 351W cam will work.
