this one here.....$450 shipped sorry I was $50 to high. By the time you buy new hoses and anitfreeze we get closer to $500.00
reason I bought it is because a 331 is going in. So I went ahead and got it. my stock rad had a hole so I needed a new one ASAP so I got it. Big deal..........I spent $1050 for a cervinis cowl hood bought and painted just for a hood........ Griffin 7-279BC-FXX - Griffin Aluminum Late Model Car and Truck Radiators

putting a wider rad does make it harder to change a belt or tighten the fan on. Less room from the shroud to the parts. just need skinny arms and hands.

It doesn't have to be a Griffin. There are alot of other good aluminum radiators out there. The Summit radiators are only about $250 and they are good quality. I see the prices have really sky rocketed on radiators lately. I paid like $280 for Griffins a couple years ago.

I'll agree with you but its nice to have name brand stuff sometimes.
and don't really know how the fit would be with those cookie cutter off the shelf radiators. not like they won't fit or work just might be a pain to install. I could be wrong.

hmmmm well, I saved the mishimoto link, thanks. in that info on that link, it states something about the better radiator keeping your car running better. so is this true guys? does better cooling make a car run better?

Your radiator/fan portion of your cooling system either has enough capacity to cool your engine or it does not. If your stock 2 core with some tubes clogged and the fins are bent and filled with bugs was still able to maintain a decent temperature just above your thermostat setting (200-220 maybe), a bigger more efficient radiator and fan will not make a difference, it will still run at a temperature just above the thermostat setpoint. The thermostat controls the temperature, the radiator and fan provide the actual cooling. Adding something bigger and better does help by giving you more "reserve" capacity when you are generating more heat like 115 outside, making passes, AC running, driving up a mountain etc. that the stock system might not be able to handle. Getting something better than stock doesnt usually cost much more though. I picked up a no name solid aluminum rad (does not have plastic side tanks which I've had bad luck with) on ebay for $190 and it has been holding up fine. My 20 year old stock 2 core was doing okay but with my supercharger and the AC running, sitting in traffic made it get pretty hot.

.......I got a off the shelf cookie cutter radiator. I love it! It gave my motor frost bite in the summer once, so I had a heater installed. A Griffin radiator is not the only radiator that can keep your car cool. I would go with the one e3sean posted up, looks like a great deal.

Why not just recore the original radiator,,,,,,$75.00
Much cheaper. Is there something wrong with a recore? If he's pretty much running stock, seems the way to go to me. But I am a newbie! |
