PLEASE HELP.. BRAIN IS BURING UP!! 5.0....WONT STARTafter..

OK.. I recently bought an 89 5.0 with 5spd....convertiable.. YEA! was running like S#&T....so... away I went! I had a rebuild set of stock injectors that I originally bought for my 89 F150 truck a few years ago... still in the plastic.. and boxes. I never installed them....on the truck. SOOOO I decided to replace the Valve cover gaskets...upper intake manifold gaskets....and the injectors on the 5.0. I found several loose bolts.. tighted them up.. etc etc.... now.. the car wont start at all...... it did run before I did all this.. but now nothing! The engine "kicks" ever one revolution... but no start. I check if the fuel was getting to the injectors... yes....(took the cap off the passanger side port on the fuel line... pletty of pressure.. and fuel). I checked for spark....YEP.. got that too... I even recheck the firing order... even though I didnt mess with that....fine as well. I made my own "noid" light to check the injector harness... yep...the light... lights...not sure how often..(it looked like it was really frequent).. but I checked both sides...I just dont get it... can someone chime in with some suggestions.....I'm not a stranger to cars/Fords/engines... but I am floored on this one... OH and Yes..I checked the fues box as well....everything looks good..... HELP>.......................................

Its plugged in... I never unplugged it...I'm wondering if the injectors... that have been in my garage for over a year...sealed in plastic...in a box... for a truck.. might just not work in a Mustang.......thoughts on that?

You have fuel, you have spark? check plugs, and igniton. but probably the wrong injectors, or they are not working. did you ohm them?

Did you follow proper procedure and discharge the fuel system before you started?

You got my wheels spinning. What is the procedure for discharging the fuel system?

Ok, what you should do to take the pressure off the fuel system is as follows:

1. Disable the fuel pump via the fuel cut off switch in the back of the car. I have a 90GT and I needed to take part of the interior in the trunk to get it. Take off the plastic panel under the trunk lid on the driver's side.

2. There is a small black box with a red button on top. Remove the wiring harness from the box; I took it off the body for easy tinkering.

3. Put the key in the ignition, turn on the accessories but don't start the engine. At this point, you should be able to tell the fuel pump isn't running (you won't hear the whine).

4. Assuming you hear nothing, start the engine. Run it until it dies (a matter of seconds).

Now there's no pressure on the system. You will find some fuel in the lines though, FYI. You're free to take off the fuel lines, rails, fuel tank, etc without a cloud of gas assaulting you. It sucks, trust me.

If you did this, you need to. . ya know, undo it. That shut off switch is an inertia switch (so if your car flips over, the fuel shuts off). If you jiggle the box, you'll hear a little bearing bounce around. You want that bearing to sit in the cradle, so that if you gently rock the box around (think normal driving movements) it won't move, it's in place. Bolt the box back in place and reconnect the wires.

When you start the engine for the first time, you need to get some fossil juice back in the lines. Make sure everything's back together and put the key in the ignition. Again, turn on the accessories and listen for the pump. You should hear it whine. Let it work for 10 seconds or so, then turn the key off. Repeat three or four more times and you're ready to go. Fire that bitch up!

Note 1: I know those are overly cautious times to prime the fuel lines, I don't care.
Note 2: I used the word "trunk" but I do have a hatch, not a notch.

Oh.. I should add.. just in case someone looks this up later.. that the REASON they stuck.. was because they sat on a shelf for soo long... so.. a word to the wise... MAKE sure they are a FRESH rebuild....or at least greased up internally.

PEACE!

Not sure of the number right off hand.. but its the Passanger side as your looking at the engine compartment from the front.. the 1st 2 cyl are the ones that dont fire. My test has been pulling spark plug wires....every wire except the 2 in question cause the engine to have a change in idle. I am going to do a compression test on the 2 cly ASAP.. but.. I think I will find that they are low.. does anyone know the #s I should get from there.. 130ish...??? Any help would be appreciated. OH.. .the previous owner ran the car for I dont know how long without an airfilter in the filter box... soo.....

Pull the plugs on those cylinders and see if the spark plugs are gapped right.

Yep.. they are gapped right.. I changed the plugs.. wires..cap and rotor during my trouble shooting (it needed it anyway). Heres a funny one.. the previous owner.. JAMMED a MSD distributor cap on there.. the wrong way.....I guess they thought the square peg.. round hole approach was best OH>>>> I should note that when I pulled the old plugs.. I think they were "wet" looking... cant remember if it was gas or oil.. or both.. BUT.. the car has been running a bit.. I'll check them out and see what happens......thoughts?

Well if its fuel when it stays out in the air, the fuel will dry but oil will stay on there.
