C4 Experts Please Help!

tonight at the track i went to warm the tires up and the rpm's went high so i let off then they went down then i got back on it and it seemed like the tires were not moving but rpm's were still there i immidately stopped and went to stage. i pushed the transbreak button and went to stage and the car just rolled forward like there was no transbreak. well i rolled too far and i was able to go in reverse, however it did not clunk into reverse as it uausally does but it still went. so on that run i foot breaked it. then at the end of the track i pushed the transbreak button, put my foot on the break and gave it a little gas then let my foot off the break and it almost wanted to hold but then it rolled forward then held then rolled forward then held kinda like a jerking motion almost like it wasnt ingaging all the way.

all three gears still work fine and it still goes into reverse just not normally....

it is a reverse manual valve body and the trans break has to be ingaged for reverse to work.

Easiest way to find out is to pull the trans pan and look for goodies ie metal and or clutches.

really?? do you know what the converter and valve body do?

the converter holds the car normally i still ran an 11.7 @ 116 on the footbreak

and the valve body transfers pressure of fluid through the transmission causing it to shift which it still shifts into all gears normally except reverse but it still works.

i need to get under the car today and look at it hopefully a wire just melted or something or the selinoid is loose... hopefully something stupid.

well its working again.... i think i have my tranny lines swaped and the fluid foamed up causing low pressure.. cause i just tested it and works like normal..

yes i know what they do and if the fins are worn or damaged in the converter it will lead to some thing similar to the problem your having.

Could the bands be out of adjustment?

I had a similar problem several years ago. I didn't notice until I pulled up to the lights and staged. I hit the transbrake button and floored the go pedal and the car took off. Then on the return road the trans felt sloppy. Then it felt fine. Then in the pits I had no reverse. Then I had reverse. I ran it a few more times until the trans finally shot the moon. Tore it apart and found a 79 cent clip broke and caused several hundred in damage. If you continue to experience your problems I strongly suggest pulling the trans out and going thru it to make sure nothing is out of place. It doesn't have anything to do with the lines. They just run from the trans to the cooler and back. One is pressure and one is return. You can hook them up anyway you want to the cooler and it will not matter.
