? for ppl using nitrous
How do u keep ur timing in check when spraying and when n/a, is it ok to run NA with the recommended 4' retard for a 125 dry shot or do I have to time the car every time? will the car feel slow when not spraying with retarded timing ? And is there any way to have ur timing adjust auto between the spray being activated -4' and stock timing when not spraying? Thanx

Yes, you can run the car without spraying with the timing retarded, it will just be a little sluggish. Or, you can bump the timing back up when not spraying. MSD makes a timing box that retards the timing automatically, but I have never used one, so I cannot tell you much about them.

also I run out of 4th in the 1/4 at 108 mph with 410s would 373s give me enough room to stay in 4th with a 125 shot say at 118-120 mph pass

^^^ What size tire.

With a 26 inch tire and 3.73s you should be able to get to 120 mph before hitting the limiter in 4th.

I dont think I had to retard my timing when I ran the nos. I think I have a cam or something. My car always ran good when I wasnt running the nos. Ill have to check this out and see what my timing is set at.

if you get your car tuned and chipped you can get an adjuster switch like i have it has 8 selections on it and all i do it turn it between tunes for what i am doing and it will make the car run completely different. they can even put a valet mode so it wont go over a certin rpm so if you bring it somewhere they cant romp on your car.

hell yeah, no one will be pulling a ferris bueler on you lol

On my nissan i made multiple maps..

Street (7psi)
Strip (14psi)
Lean burn (emissions)
Highway map (lean, pulled timing)
and full open loop map in case a sensor went nutso (i burned up 02's all the time)

As for the poster I would run a retard ignition box, safest way to go.
If you do not pull any timing it could(and prob will) hurt some ring langs and say bye bye to your pistons

hahaha that is funny as hell... I wish I could afford one of them but right now I'm strapped for cash, my main concern was if running the colder plugs and retard timing if it would hurt anything, if not I'll just stick with that and maybe when I save up some quid I'll get the msd.

get a timing light and just retard it when you are going to run spray....until you can get a chip/tune or MSD box

retard 2 degrees for every 50 hp of nitrous and you can do that with a msd box or by a light. not hard but dont listen to people when they say not to take any timing out because you'll hurt your motor. Do two or every fifty and youll be ok.

One step colder plugs is all you will need and they will be fine for normal driving as well. Timing is easy. Retard it before you spray. Then move it back to normal when you are not spraying.

Yet curious... I will be running 110 through my car at all times.... I an going to have a locked out distributer. What would a good timing be for a 100 shot? With the higher octane, I was thinking of around 34 degrees locked out. Advice?

If it was my car I'd leave the timing alone with race gas and only 100hp of nitrous. I've only sprayed 100hp a handfull of times but I've never taken any timing out with such a small amount of nitrous because I was running good fuel and because it is such a small amount. If you want to be super duper safe then pull 2 degrees out. But I guarantee if you spray it on the dyno you will see no detonation with good fuel and no timing pulled out.
