burned two oil pumps?

after rebuilding the motor and installing a new oil pump both my new pumps have seized. Both have lasted about two miles before noticing oil pressure drop and shutting the car down. I reused the stock pick up but cleaned the hell outta it with the air nozzle from the compressor I took the first seized pump off and tore it apart to find absolutly nothing wrong with the inside besides the fact that its seized what could cause this? The stock oil pump drive shaft and a heavy duty high volume shaft have both twisted and snapped any ideas? Im lost and very irritated

What kind of pumps are you buying? I'd definitely get a new pick up just to be safe.

Get a standard volume Melling and a new pick up. Get an ARP shaft while you are at it too. Maybe get it from different store as well. Eliminate all possibilities.

I had a melling put in my last motor and it took a shit in the dyno room all over everything some kind of spring trouble the shop said it has happened two or three times in the the last couple years and basicly the shop has to eat it so your not the only one.

I've twisted up a stock shaft once when using a hi volume oil pump. It was cool looking, but the engine damage wasn't.

I also broke a generic Sealed Power hardened shaft when the Sealed Power pump locked up after about 20 miles on the road.

I've had good luck with Melling pumps though. I always use a standard volume pump though. No need to pump all of that extra oil to the top of the engine.

Check for pump/shaft/dizzy gear binding. Only thing I can think of.
