15psi and head lift =

Blew a head gasket Saturday on the dyno. Guess 15psi and stock head bolts don't play well together. Anyway, here are the pics.

15 psi LOL yeah stock heads/gaskets and bolts aren't gonna hold long... you could get by with studs. That's what I use with stock heads/gaskets i figure with the stock gaskets they'll let go instead of something more costly.

I have arp head studs and head gaskets from the fms gasket rebuild kit. I'm going I had a 3.33 pulley on my vtech, but I'm stepping down to 3.00 but I'm not looking for 15psi thats for sure.

Yeah he is putting in some arp bolts. But I like the idea of putting in a weaker gasket so it blows first... Might have to look into that.

I'm running the Vortech provided S-Trim one piece lower and a 2.75" upper.

Rest of my stuff includes:

Trick Flow - Track Heat
Unequal length shorties
X-Pipe with Flows and dumps
75mm TB and spacer
75mm MAF
UPR's version of the power pipe (forgot what it is called)
255lph in-tank and TRex
Professional Products fuel rail and regulator kit. (worst fitment EVER! FYI)
MSD digital 6
Blaster coil
93 Cobra rockers (Crane)
Hardened pushrods

...think that is it.

I'm going with ARP studs for sure. I have a friend with some ported and polished GT40s that need a guide and a valve I'm trying to get him to sell me. Eff putting those stock heads back on when I already have them off.

Considering these:
SCE ICS Titan Copper Self Sealing Head Gaskets - summitracing.com
or
Domestic Auto

Opinions on either of these guys?

409 right before it blew. There was still quite a bit of fuel we hadn't got to waiting to be added.

go with fel-pro 9333pt1 gaskets.

They are a great gasket for boosted apps and are cheap

To go with metal gaskets, you will need the block and head surface remachined to a much smoother finish.

With a good tune you won't need to worry about that. A weak gasket is a weak gasket. It could cause other problems. An engine spinning 7000 rpm with a couple cylinders full of coolant is not a good thing.

hmm not bad for stock heads and cam. doesn't seem like much power for 15 psi though. Was it a conservative dyno?
