Getting stock alternator to work w/out the regulator? 1988

Here is my problem... Converted my 88GT to carburetion. Rewired practically the whole car. Now I am trying to get my stock alternator to work. I unhooked the 3 (regulator) prong clip, because the wires from it go to nothing now. So now my alternator doesnt seem to be working. No volts coming from the main power wire. Is it because the clip isnt plugged in that it isnt producing a charge? If so, can you jump certain pins or something to get the alternator working again?... My other question is that will old single wire alternators fit on/in the stock alternator bracket? I assumed yes, but asked to be sure. I would like to keep the stock one. But would get a one wire one if I had to.

Why did you unhook the clip? Why don't the wires go anywhere now? I have converter several Mustangs from EFI to carb and have always kept the stock alternator.

I finally found the wiring diagram that shows the regulator. I thought the voltage regulator did more than what it does. But after reading up, and seeing the diagram I should be able to rewire it to get it to work.

I have rewired a lot of the circuitry to run off of switches. It is just how I wanted it. (One reason is so that I can cut out some of the sock harness from the engine bay.) So, the ignition switched wire that usually goes to the regulator doesnt work. I think that was the main reason why it wasnt turning on. Just one more switch for the switch board. I would rewire the whole car, but, doing brake lights, blinkers, and head lights is a PITA.
