backfiring back threw the carb


hey guys
just had a friend rebuild my carb from an 85 302 H.O. original carb, when i went to start it , it started and idles on low idle and then when i went to give it gas it fire balls threw the carb.

Any ideas? thanks

have you changed timing at all?

Sounds like a lean fuel misfire.. have you adjusted the carb at all for accel pump or idle circuits..?

Timing, EGR and a few other problems cause this. When did it start doing this?

if you changed nothing BUT the carb rebuild, i'd say your friend fucked up

i plug the egr
the car sat for 5yrs resealed the enging didn't touch timing
and after the carb rebuild

Sounds like your friend screwed up a carb rebuild.
