GT-40P Stock Valve,Locks,&Retainer Size's?
Got GT-40P heads from mercury mountaineer i don't know what yr it was exactly, its the 97.5 and up body style. Looking to rebuild them, but can't find what size the valves, locks, and retainers are. Does anybody know where i can find a spec sheet for those sizes? Checked at discount auto but they said theres 3 different intake valve sizes. So im not sure what exactly to order? I am putting them on my '93 5.0 anything else i should be aware of for install?.....Can someone please help me out!? Thnx!

alright so i guess ill go with the kit you recomended. Im going to get some new valves and slap it all in after i get the head decked and i also wanna give the vavles a 3 angle cut. and have the vavles re-seated. Now i want to get some new rockers, should i go with 1.6 or 1.7 rockers? I plan on getting a cam eventually. will this setup work until i get a cam? Will i have a problem with piston to valve clearance? How can i check that? And a cam recomendation for this setup would be very helpful. Im thinking about an F cam from ford racing? or will that be to much lift with the setup I wanna do? Im a little worried about clearance after the heads go on and after i deck the head.

I talked to a tech at summit about a good setup for the heads. I probably will stick with the stock cam and get 1.7 rockers, and the kit from trick flow. Im going to have the valves re-seated and give them a 3 angle job while there out. Im also going to deck the heads. I could fit a .008 shim under a straight edge in the center of the head. My haynes said .006 was the max so im going to go ahead and do it. Im looking to eventually get around 300-350 hp. Im not going to crazy with the stock block and rotating ass. Im eventually going to get a dss motor with some afr heads. Im going to the yard tomorrow to get the manifold from the mountaineer. Anything i should be aware of? I know ill have to mess with the throttle cables, cause the elbow brings the TB straight out.
