Spent about $1k and didnt get any faster

Most people dont understand this but it makes perfect sense to me. Since I bought the car 8 months ago I have spent roughly $1k but am no faster than when I started (well maybe about 5 hp but thats it).
I have purchased:
New headliner (and had it installed) for about $370
New battery tray- $45
New Sunroof weather stripping (in and out)- $50
New Sunroof front clips- $45
Junkyard finds such as fog light switch, some plastic pieces for interior etc-$80
New fog lights- $50
Repainting Interior- $50
New plugs and wires- $70
Repainting intake manifold, alternator & A/C compressor-$15
New Solenoid plastic cover- $30
New distributor boot- $40
New Summit CAI- $120
New striker bolts- $12
Misc.- $50

EDIT- Remembered some more stuff
New Stainless steel ashtray- $40
2 New sets of door retaining clips- $10
New Power mirror covers- $10
New PCV Valve, Grommet & hose- $20
New Mustang Embroidered floor mats- $50
Used (but looks brand new) 87-89 Steering Wheel- $35
Used gray tweed front seats- $200

I am sure I am leaving some small stuff out but you get the idea...I am trying to get my car in pretty good shape and respectable for car shows. I still have a litte road a head of me but no plans for "go fast" parts

Here are a few pics...some of them are not the most recent but you get the idea

This is the most recent...last month at a car show

About 2 months old

Here is the engine bay (I have since painted the A/C compressor the same color as the intake manifold and alternator) and I got a new battery

There are some flaws...the paint is not perfect but its about a 8 out of 10
I am also buying some nice interior rear quarter plastic pieces and I will be repainting them too. The ones I have right now are scratched and gouged in the hatch portion
But with all of that being said this car has come a long way though and it does look pretty decent

Well for the next step I am hoping to get some nice interior hatch panels and paint them...then put them in the car. Other than that I really haven't thought that far ahead. My wife and I have our 2nd child due in June so that will put a stop to any improvements in the near future

Did you take your car? I had entered my car in that show and was there until about 1pm and I had to leave early. When were you at the show?
