351 w Heads

Has anyone on this forum ever used a set of 351 w on a fuel injected 302? I might be picking up a set for a good price just wondering if its a good performance choice? Anything i should look out for?

Thanks
Joe

I think 351W has 1/2" head bolts, 302 has 7/16. Other than that, it's a straight bolt on (no pun intended).

Stock for stock 69 and 70 351W heads flow about 30 more cfm on the intake than an E7. Exhaust flow is about the same. 69 and 70 351W heads use 1.84/1.54 valves and most of the other 351W heads run 1.78/1.46 valves and have larger chambers. Anything other than the 69 and 70 heads is pretty much a wash and not worth the time.

302 heads will fit a 351w providing that the bolt holes are bored out for the larger bolts. But once they're bored out, they're 351 heads and cant go back to a 302 considering the bolts wont fit and theres not really any way to make em fit...=/

This is when you use a sleeved bolt.... Most aftermarket heads come drilled 1/2"

You can use head bushings too.
