92 LX 5.0 future mods?

I just got my 92 LX the other day and I am trying to decide what I want to do next with it.

The person I bought the car from was planning on putting a supercharger on it but never got around to it I guess. However, The fuel modifications were done to the car, so right now there is alot of fuel for a stock engine.

The mods done to the car are:

headers
x-pipe
flows with dumps
pro 5.0 shifter
urethane tranny mount
egr spacer
24lb injectors
BBK adjustable fuel regulator
255lph pump
Tuned ECU

I am looking for any input on what to do next, I plan on eventually installing a single turbo kit. But for right now, should I install the stock injectors and fuel pump, or what upgrades could I go with to make this extra fuel useful for now.

Any information is appreciated.

what kind of tuning is done to the ECU? the injectors are fine. look into buying new cylinder heads, a camshaft, and an intake. you already have enough fuel for that

I really don't know what kind of tuning was done to the ESU, the seller of the car just told me it was tuned for the fuel mods. I just didn't understand why the car was tuned for that extra fuel, when it's not needed.

5.0 Mustang Tech Q & A

This is a pretty good read. Some people will argue about the technical stuff but its still a good place to start.

I am looking at a cam, intake, and heads.... I am doing some research, but could anyone direct me to some products that could be used well with a turbo setup, as well as naturally aspirated?

do heads and then a cam to match. checkout trick flow. They sell a top end kit that's all designed to run perfectly together.

That track heat kit is great, I plan on buying that in the future when I have some more money for mods. In the meantime, should I go with some stock injectors for my car because it is a stock setup? The MAF is original and I am getting way too much fuel the way it is now.

The only thing I am also wondering is, if the computer was actually tuned for these injectors, would sock ones make it run poorly. From doing searching, most people are saying all you need is a MAF calibrated for the 24lb injectors.

how does the car run.....if it runs good then I would say leave it alone for now and get heads......doesnt seem like enough fuel for a charger though...

How do you figure you are getting too much fuel?

because of the size of the injectors with a stock motor. Also, it smells like its running very rich; although, it doesn't have cats, just an x pipe then dumps. I'll take a look at the plugs when I get a chance.

The car runs good. I just wasn't sure If I should be running these injectors or not. If I wont gain anything from switching back to stock, I'll keep them in.

Thanks for the input guys.

no you wont gain anything by switching back to factory 19lb/hr injectors, as long as you have a matching MAF for your 24's. If you havent driven a car without cats the smell of the exhaust might lead you to believe it is running rich.

The injectors aren't too big. The 5 liter Cobras had 24lb injectors and they were only 15hp more than the base model Mustang. Its not getting too much fuel. It might be running rich if the computer wasn't calibrated for the bigger injectors though. I wonder if someone did a Cobra computer conversion on this car.
