So I wont have my rear end until Mon possibly Tues. Apparently I was unclear when I said 4-Lug, and not 5!... but whose counting. I guess this just gives me more prep time for everything else, I'll definately be posting pictures of everything thats being installed along with the heinqourters.
![]() Thanks for the advice, I plan on looking at their parts right now... thanks again for the input |

I've heard for adjustable controll arms you need to adjust them with the weight of the car on the susp.
Do I need to install them with the weight of the car on the susp? They're what was on before... |

Yes, always make chassis adjustments with the suspension loaded.

OK, so to be clear does the entire car need to be of the ground or just jack stands under the rear-end when tightening everything up? Thanks, I just don't want to install anything incorrectly...

When you initially install the stuff you can put it up on jack stands so its easier. When you start making adjustments you need to have the car sitting at ride height and the suspension loaded. I usually use some boards to raise the car the same amount in the front and rear. 4 car ramps would work too. Then you can set pinion angle and rear suspension preload. I usually adjust the anti roll device (if you get one) with the car on the ground and the front wheels slightly off the ground (like a small wheelie).

Thanks again for the tutorial, I almost feel like you're going to set-up a pay-pal account before you reply to certain threads
, LMAO...Now I have a much more outlandish question and this may be crossing the internet boundaries, but I'm going to ask it anyways... When I get my suspension parts in and head to the track to dial in the susp., what are the odds of you coming down to GLD to help me out with setting up the car? Also hopefully you giving me pointers and advice through-out the visit Ex: how long to be in the waterbox, finding the groove at the tree, etc... |

Wow, that wasn't exactly the response I expected... but a great one nonetheless. I have a call into Team Z, hopefully I'll hear from them tomorrow about their uppers and spherical bushings(all I can afford right now)...
What is the tool called to check pinion angle? Can I buy one from summit? Must I have the torque box reinforcers in order to run the uppers, or is that just precautionary measures? |

The tool for pinion angle is an angle finder. You can get one at Sears. I'd weld up the torque boxes to make sure nothing pulls apart.

That rear end should be able to handle a good bit of power.

So with the weather and the long days at work, finding time to work on the car has proven to be a real hassel... But this is what I was able to get done today, it's just in their for now I'll tighten everything down tomorrow... I have to grind down the inside of the drum hub inorder to fit over the bigger bearings, not to big a deal but I'm sure it will prove time consuming... And then just a picture of the stock axels vs 33-spline axels, MMMmmm sexay!

rear breakes...
So after much debate and consideration($) I was finally able to pick up my rear disk kit from strange the other day. 4-piston caliper, slotted rotors, and misc hardware. I haven't decided yet on which master to go with, hopefully I can find something soon.
I plan on installing the torque box reinforcements this weekend along with the rear disk kit. Also I'll be pulling the motor and trans again to smooth out the engine bay. Eventually I'll get it to my friends shop for some welding and painting, by then it should be spring time again...lol wishfull thinking I know ![]()
