heater core...

Alright guys so my heater core blew, didn't get any antifreeze on the interior of my car which is a benefit. But i was just wondering if it is worth paying a professional money to do it. I heard estimates can run any where from $600-$1000. I believe i can do it myself just heard its a pain in the a$$. if i do do it myself anyone have any advice? and how long did it take you?

I took the dash apart the night before and I think it took me about 4 hours the next day (my first one) It is a pain in the ass but its half a grand in your pocket.

And if you do it yourself make sure to go to the ford dealership parts dept to get a factory original one. Do not go to autozone or any of the other knockoff brands or you will be doing it again real soon.

The fins inside the box is what was pissing me off the most.

Just loop the lines if it's just a summer car.

Not too bad...but not fun. For the most part...unbolt the steering column...let is lay on your seat, pull the dash, let it lay on your lap...access the top 4 bolts of the Heater core box, pull it...reverse install. It seems pretty bad...but after you start working at it...it isn't that bad.

I get to do the one in my 99 soon. Fox dashes are so small and easy...the SN-95s are huge...not looking forward to mine at all. lol.

Good luck

it's not hard at all. Just take everything apart slowly and easy. Its just time consuming.

Again its not difficult at least I thought it wasn't.

DON't PAY $600 you are crazy if you are really considering to pay

Just do it yourself. I did and it wasn't hard.

back together
