time for a roller?

Well I pulled my motor a couple days ago with intentions of cleaning up the bay and what not. After pulling everything I realized that the car has been hacked. My motor was tilting a little to the left, reason was someone cut the k member up with a grinder for some reason. Also radiator mount is bent bad. you can tell there was a tow truck hook that did it. so what do you guys think? I know the k member is replaceable and not a big deal. But as for the rad. support, I can cut it out and re weld another in no problem, but would I be able to pass inspection at the track with something like that done? Or could I fab a custom mount and pass? If neither of those are do able then I guess I need to look for a roller.

Also need to look at matching body parts too. Its an 86 with a conversion to an 88 by the previous owner. at this point the car looks pretty stupid. Its got lx body mostly, a saleen wing, gt badges on the sides and the front fenders and bumper dont match up. They seem to be an older type of gt fender but dont have the little air scoops like my girlfriends 91 so I dont know. So with all that to think about would I end up spending less in the end just buying a roller? Theres a 92 notch in my area for 500 and looks fair. Just needs a donor powertrain. Thanks and let me know what you all think

I agree. I'd go check out the notch. From what your saying it looks like your going to have to dump a pile of money in yours just to get it to be pretty decent.

yeah I am thinking about the notch. Here is a link to it.1992 MUSTANG BODY

I talked to the guy and he is going to be sending me some more pictures. Its about 2 hours from where I live in a little town

I do metal fabrication for a living so welding in a new radiator support isn't the problem. Its just overall cost and what is the better option between spending money on my frankenstein hatch or getting a simple notch. I prefer the looks of the hatch overall but this is a drag car so weight makes me lean toward the notch.

Also the k member on mine has been cut all to shit with a grinder and rewelded with a wire feed and I dont really trust it as is.

well I ran across a good deal and I am going to be transplanting my powerplant into this new toy after I freshen up the body and re-paint it. Please tell me how awful you think the paint is now. Im excited though, its my first coupe! a steal I think at only $300. its an 89 4 cyl car. Ill be swapping all my stuff into it. quick question though for those who check out the pics, the little body damage it has, should i just cut out and reweld in fresh panels or should I try to beat it back to shape and bondo? let me know what you guys think!

i would guess that once you get through the cheese on that rear quarter there will only be one option (to cut and replace) if you want it to look real clean when your done...but very nice find for $300. i been lookin for a 4cyl notch for a while and up here in ct everyone wants an arm and a leg for shit. good luck with the build brotha.

thank you sir. I was actually thinking about heading out to the junk yard today with some shears and getting the body started. another question, have you ever seen anyone pull all the trim around the car? Like on mine the black strips around the lower portion of the body? I was considering doing that all the way around and just smoothing it out but I dont know if it would look any better

If it were mine, I'd fix the rear quarter myself rather than cutting the original off and welding on a new quarter. talk about a pain in the ass. Different stroke for different folks I guess. There's no way I'd cut it off though. That's an easy fix and can be made to look like it never happened. I guarantee it. They look shitty in my opinion with out the molding. Replace what is missing. That is a great find for $300 also. Good luck with the build.

I can paint but I've never been much for body hammers and what not. and the guy who had it before me tried and its pretty messed up, the pictures dont really show it. I do metal fabrication for a living so I can just cut it out and tig weld the new one on and nobody would every be able to tell. Do you by chance have any pictures of them without the molding?
