Dropping the Tranny and need some help

Ok guys so im Dropping the Tranny for the 1st time. Note ive never dropped a tranny before minus my friends 67 Mustang. But I have a Tremec 3550 ( dunno if it makes a diff. or not ) And i dunno if there are any sertian things i should really avoid or if i have to do something to the driveshaft ( besides take of the U Joint ) or any tricks or anything like that. So im asking for some advice and help.

I have the car on jack stands now. So i just need to get under it and get going but since ive never Dropped a Tremec i dunno if there are certian things i should and shouldnt do. Like should i take of the shifter 1st? Or are there certian things that will hurt it or anything like that. Sorry if these are dumb questions but im just a guy trying to learn but i dont want to have to learn but destroying something and having to buy a new parts so i figured id ask now. Thanks for any help and tips guys, i really appreciate it! - Joe.

take off the shifter handle, drop the midpipe, unbolt the drive shaft, disconnect the speedo and clutch cable, but a jack under the trans, take off the crossmember, unbolt and drop the trans

I allways dont jack the car up too much, and when I pull the trans I just ease it out, and lower it onto my chest, then gently roll it off me.

Try and have a budy with you to go on/off with the e-brake for the driveshaft back at the diff. Makes it easier with a second set of hands, also have a drain pan for the tranny fluid. I would use the jack once the trans is ready to come out, and obviously it has to slide back about 3-4" before it will drop down. GL and be carefull.

ALMOST FORGOT!!! make sure the back of the car is also on jackstands, atleast to get the drive shaft out. 10x's easier to get to the driveshaft bolts when you can spin it to get to all the bolts.

Not a hard deal really.. just do like everyone else said :

put ebrake on or wheel chalks at tires
unbolt shifter handle
unbolt x or h pipe
put a jack under the trans
unbolt the crossmember
unhook the shifter cable at bell housing
unbolt speedo cable from side of trans
unbolt driveshaft bolts at rear end
slide driveshaft out of trans
catch trans fluid from where you just pulled the shaft out of lol
unbolt trans from bell
pull trans back out of bell while having a jack under it
lower jack and pull the jack with trasn on it out from under the car
