Brother blew the motor time for a 351w: questions
Ive almost got my old 5.0 motor ready to pull, and im getting a complete 351w out of an 89 f150. I was wondering what parts am i going to need other than a new flywheel? Should the oilpan fit in my 89lx? Its coming with the exaust manifolds as well should those fit my exaust or will i still need to get some new ones? Does anybody know how much power it should have when its all done? Its a roller block fuel injected and i dont think there are any mods. Thanks in advance for any replys.

351 sounds good but take it easy its a weaker block than the 302. just about anytime you change the flywheel youll have to change the hormonic balancer too. vibration can suck horsepower and kill a motor

+1 the 351w is a beefed up 302w it weighs maybe 100lbs more and can hold up to around 600hp. if by weaker you mean stronger than yea is weaker lol

351W blocks after the late 70s are weak but no where near as weak as a 5 liter block.

don't forget about the balancer comment.....
He is not changing the imbalance of the motor.... just the way the drive line attaches to it there is no need to change the balancer unless e chooses to upgrade.

Maybe i heard from the guy wrong then or he just didnt know what he was talking about...but o well. Pulled the 5.0 out last night! Ill probably just get the flywheel offline. Is there an advantage to having a hydrolic roller cam?
whats the difference between the flat tappeted? Another week and it should be all up and ready to run again. Ill post some pics when its done. THanks guys |
