How wide on an 88?

Asked this on another forum but people don't really seem to wanna help me out there, so trying this forum out that someone suggested to me.

Anyway, buying an 88 Mustang and looking to get new wheels for it. How wide can I go if I threw on some upper and lower control arms? Also, the car is lowered with Sportline springs. Well it's lowered in the front right now but will be lowered in the rear as well. Would adjustable control arms be needed for camber adjustment? Or just a camber kit maybe? Thanks for any advice and here's the pics. Oh yeah, and the car has a 5 lug conversion on it already.

Car I'm buying...

Wheels I'm looking to get for the street. 17x9's in the front, 17x10.5's in the rear. Will they fit?

from what was said on another thread, i picked up that 10.5 is a little too big for a fox body. Some people squeeze them on there, but with a lot of hammer time and fender rolling. i guess it all depends on the backspacing as well.

Alright, I've decided to just get one set of wheels and they're gonna be some Trakstar's from American Racing. 15x3.5's in the front and either 15x8 or 15x10's in the rear...and drag radials.

Could someone please tell me the correct backspacing to go with for the front with a 3.5 wide wheel and for the rear with an 8 inch wide wheel and the proper tire size to get for the drag radials? Already know what I'd need if I went with 10 inch wide in the rear.

Looking to get something really soon but need to make sure I'm getting the proper wheel. Not sure if a 5 lug conversion would change things or not. Thanks!

I dont know about rim size but a 245mm width tire rubs pretty good in the front, I really dont think a 10.5 rear rim will fit either. If you keep the rear high like in the pic, you might be able to get them on there.(nice coupe by the way)

front runners on the street arnt much fun, they have a tendency for the brakes to lock up the tires pretty easy.

Well, it's not gonna be a daily driver. Just a day off or weekend car and track car. Need to know the proper back spacing to go with but yeah, I'm curious to see a picture of Racinjason81's car. Have to do anything to get those wheels to fit? Control arms? Hammer? Any rubbing issues?

I CANT POST A PICTURE RIGHT NOW . I ORDERED THEM FROM OE WHEELS CONCEPTS. MINES A DAILY DRIVER . YOU WILL NEED TO ROLL THE REAR FENDER LIPS. I AM USING 1/4 SPACERS AND ADJUST YOUR EXHAUST.YOU WONT NEED ANY SPECIAL CONTROL ARMS EITHER

Can you go without the spacer and then not have to worry about rolling the fenders maybe? What exactly did ya have to do for adjusting your exhaust. Sure wish you had a picture Not sure where to find a picture of one. No rubbing issues in the front when turning? Have to roll the front as well?

And would I need a 26mm offset or a 24?

(1st 2 wheels)

You have me debating on those wheels since I can get some nice Nitto's, those wheels, mounted and balanced, and shipped for just about $1400. Not too bad I don't suppose.

Even if it not a daily driver, I would consult a good tire pro shop.
My Vert is lowered & my front rubs just a little with 235 15 inch wheels when I cut the steering wheel.
Back is okat though,no probelms.

Now I got word that you can rid of your quads and throw in some 15x10's with a 6.5" backspacing and darrell told me that so you know it will work.

you get a little rubbing when you turn the front wheels all the way but it is easy to live with. I just used the rear 1/4 inch spacers. you gotta loosen the
tailpipes at the h pipe and move them in away from the tires. you dont have to roll the front.

Are you talking about the 17x9's rubbing in the front? Is it possible to beat in the fender well to keep it from rubbing? Also, looking at the 2 different options for the offset, I'm not sure which one would be better to go with? I would think that if I had the proper offset, I wouldn't need a spacer but not sure if they will come with the proper offset or not. I have the choice of a 24mm or 26mm offset and not sure which would be better.
