if you have stock pistons, I believe you are gonna have to go with their 165's because of PTV clearance problems. That or have your stock pistons notched and get some 185's

afr's tend to have some quality control issues... check on corral.net if you want to read up on some of them... i'd also put another vote in for some trickflows

So are their springs. Those parts are easily replaceable though. What gets me is you always here about record breaking cars running Twisted Wedge heads but never AFR heads. When you hear about someone making unbelieveable horsepower with their street car, an AFR head is never on it. Yet AFR has a bandwagon that runs wild on the internet claiming they are the best. I have a few buddies on that AFR bandwagon that run AFR heads and can't figure out why they are stuck in the mid 11s with a 347......

My buddies are on the AFR bandwagon too. He had a sn95 with afr165's and a cobra intake. The car did run it's ass off, I'm not sure what the 1/4 mile times were, but I tell him I want to get some trickflows and he says they suck. I think he heard all the valve guide horror stories from the old trickflow heads and that's why he says they suck. He's in the ls1 crowd now.

That valve guide problem is about 10 years old. Totally different company now with totally different tooling.

I couldn't agree with you more the springs are piss poor and for the money you'd think they would they would at least make an atempt at making quality parts.

I have seen cars with tfs heads run over afr equipped cars tons of times it's just some people love to read and see numbers posted on the internet or magazines that are ball washing afr.. whatever it's there money

I have a stock 302 and it has a b-303 cam with your basic bolt on parts and have a trickflow trackheat u/l intake which trickflow heads would best suit my combo and i'll be spraying the car 150 shot

The Twisted Wedge heads would be a definite improvement. I'd toss that B cam though.

I would toss the b-cam but for now its doing a hell of a job with what i got. My car ran a 12.83@105 with stock e-7 heads and everything else i listed above. I think thats damn good for a stock e-7 head and b cam. i was just wanting a little more power though to run low 12s. Will the trick flow heads get me in the low 12 range?

I run low 11s with AFR 165s! I think some guys just cant drive or have bad set ups. Ive seen AFR and twisted wedge run the same here in Bristol. I have a set of AFR 165s if your interested, I want some 205s.

I'll guarantee that B cam is not any part of your success. What is your combination and how much does the car weigh?

If you can't run low 12s with a Trick Flow headed 302 then you should quit racing. You won't even need that 150hp of nitrous to do it.

The 150 shot is for the 11s i'm already in the 12 range just wanted low 12s on motor. And the 12.83@105 was on motor not w/nitrous. My setup is 302 with stock heads (no port work) trick flow u/l intake(track heat) b cam, bbk 1 5/8 full length headers, 70 mm tb, 1.7 rocker arms, bbk x-pipe, 2 chamber flowmasters, 3:73 gears, lakewood traction action lift bars, south side machine uppers, not sure on the weight. And no i'm not going to quit racing
