Tachometer Jump

First, let me start by saying this:

"I have not searched, Sorry"

I looked at a Fox today, 89 gt HO 5.0 from what the guy could tell me but he thought it had a WC trk transmission in it. The only problem I could find with the car is that the Tachometer would jump up to 4k and then slowly work its way up to 4.5k when I accelerated and would stick for a while.

Ideas? Do the foxbodies have manually driven tachometers? is there something else that could be wrong such as a bad gear or tachometer itself? I wouldn't have a problem putting in an aftermarket one, I just need ideas... or something so I don't buy a lemon'd out car.

they aren't mechanical. Stock tachs are good for nothing. Pay attention to the car itself and not the tach around that same rpm, if no problems that pop up that are audible dont worry about it just get a new tach.
