my 87 5,0 idles fine but when i plug in the iac it idles at like 1500 rpm would this work also the car at a cruise it miss fires or just acts like it stutters would this be the problem

idle surge/high,erratic idle
please help, what is the idle air bypass solenoid and where is it located? i have 1990 gt- 70mm t.b., k&n c.a.i., off road h pipe. 5 speed. on hot start it idles @ 2500 for 30 seconds, drops to 1500, then drops to 1000. once in a while it will drop to 600 and then surge back to 1000. read the tech tips about salt & pepper shakers and idle reset - very helpful. please help!!!

got a code on the TPS, the part is $29, worth replacing and going with that or going through what you describe above?
I have replaced the IAC in the past 6 months b/c would not hold idle. Now the opposite, too high, will reset sometimes if I shut the car off. |
