1.7 crane rockers with E303 on 302 stock pistons any issues?

I have 1.6 roller rockers on there now but am getting a set of lightly used 1.7 cranes from a buddy. Will there be any issue botling these on in place of the 1.6 with the e303 cam. Learning as i go here....first real mustang! Older mustang was a v6.....alot different. I know i might have to take off the underside of the valve covers or buy new ones for clearance. Any troubles you guys can think of.....is it worth it to change from 1.6 to 1.7 both roller rockers. Will i notice a difference. thanks for the input

What springs are you running? Whats is your coil bind clearance minus peak lift minus installed height?

+1

Valve to piston clearance shouldn't be an issue but coil bind and/or valve float might be. Probably not worth it in this case.

The crane 1.7s will give you a 30thousands more lift. So the e-cam has .498 lift when you add the 1.7s it will give you a .528 lift no issues with clearance just might want to get some different valve springs

Lift at the valve is relative to lobe lift. Rocker ratio just multiplies it. While a 1.7 rocker might give .030 on one cam, it will be different on other cams. On the E cam it will be .529 or .031 more lift.

E cam:
.498 / 1.6 = .31125 lobe lift
.31125 x 1.7 = .529 lift at the valve

Trick Flow 51420001
.542 / 1.6 = .33875 intake lobe lift
.33875 x 1.7 = .576 intake valve lift

.563 / 1.6 = .351875 exhaust lobe lift
.351875 x 1.7 = .598 exhaust valve lift

Depending on the valve timing of the cam and factory machining tolerances. Valve timing can play a bigger role than the actual valve lift.

Straight from FMS svo catalog from 1995. As the thread topic is about rocker ratio, which has nothing to do with duration.
