you can make more power with a set of 351w heads...but not near as much as a good aftermarket....

I'd throw a set of GT 40 heads on my ride if I were on that tight of a budget. You can get them at every junk yard and all over ebay and craigslist. Cheap heads that will outflow the shit out of an E7. The 351w heads are not worth a damn either. Unless they are like a 70 model or earlier I think. So, you do the math. Spend 200-300 hundred dollars on a set of GT40(p) heads at any junk yard any day of the week or spend days maybe weeks and alot more $ looking for a d0OE head.

This is not even worth discussing. The 69-70 Windsor head is better. All other Windsor heads are junk. GT40P heads are a better option if you are stuck on using a factory head.

Ok. I'm sure if you look long enough you will find someone that says factory Windsor heads are the best thing since pierced nipples. The facts are that factory Windsor heads suck. The 69-70 (and maybe the 71) heads are ok but still not a GT40 head. All of the rest of the 351W heads are identical to the 302 heads except for the differnce in head bold hole diameter. 302 is 7/16 and 351W is 1/2. A 351W head requires a reducer bushing when used on a 302. As far as Pros and cons go, there are no pros to any 351W head other than the ones I listed. The only pro of an E7 head is it is better than the 351W heads (except the 69-70 C9-DO heads). The cons for both the 351W aned E7 heads are lengthy. Poor flow, small valves, small ports, etc.

Darrell,
Can the GT40P heads be used on the 351W ? Just drill out the bolt holes right?

Yeah, they could but why? You might as well keep a 302 if you are going to do that. There is no point in taking a cylinder head that is less than adequate for a 302 and putting it on an engine that is 16% bigger unless making power is not one of your goals. A 351 will not breath very well thru that head. More cubes needs bigger heads, bigger intake, etc.
