found a nice 86 5.0

ive been looking around for a DD and i found this nice 86 5.0 with 140k miles with a 5 speed... for 1500 bucks.

the question is, should i pull the trigger and get this? is it very reliable? is it a good deal? im also looking at a nice 89 bmw 525i, same price.

there is alot more support for a stang but you know that.
And also 1500 isnt bad how clean is it?

86 Mustang 5.0 5 Speed $2000/obo

judge it yourself. personally i dont think its that bad, just replace the taillights and give a good interior cleaning.

well, unless that guy changed the rear windows, that is not an 86.
87-93 had the large rear quarters. Also the hood is from an 84GT. The front end is definetly an 85 or 86
still not a bad price. I would go over it really well with a magnet for rust repair.

so the front is a 86, the back is 87-93, and the hood is 84? weird... which year would you think it is the most?

i dont really care about rust, as long its not gonna fall apart in about 3 years time. im def not repairing any rust.

Nah, most likely it's 86 like seller says. Ask for VIN to be sure. Hood is easy to change, and so are the rear windows which look a lot better that louvered ones (probably only part that looks better in newer models

). The intake plate looks like it would be 86.

yeah for sure I did the full outer 87-93 swap on my 86 gt. I also converted it to fuel injected. Than I hated the interior so i was gunna swap that to the newer intereior and Then it hit me one day. Maybe i what i really wanted was an 87-93! so I sold it and bought one and couldn't be happier lol.

if it runs smooth...engine and trans and the susp is ok id buy it

all i care is that it runs. i dont care if the luxury options doesnt work or a/c doesnt work/ or window doesnt work etc.

personally i wouldn't have a mustang as a DD and i wouldn't buy an 86 if you want to mod it.
