tire fitment
anyone have trouble fitting 275/50/15 radials in the back? Whenever I turn i hear a rubbing from the back. I bought the welds with the radials on them so i'm not sure if it's 4.5 or 5.5" backspacing.

275 50 15 should fit no problem... are your quad shocks still on the car? Maybe it's rubbing your axel back(tail-pipes), pull the rears off and see if there's any signs of rubbing.

See thats what I thought too...my quad shocks are out and I have dumps that stop before the axle...I cheked clearance with the tire on and it's like 1/2" between the back tire and inner fenderwell...so i''m wondering if i should just roll the inner fender or find spacers.

I think rolling the inner fender turns into mini-tubs lol, Do you have blown as shocks or a busted spring? Also if it's only when you're turing, are you sure it's coming from the back? Have you inspected the fronts for rubbing?

Well i'm gonna replace the shocks cause they are original from 93 and they do show some signs of wear. The fronts are skinnys and I'm sure it's coming from the rear. I havn't checked the springs yet so when i get it on the lift i'll be sure to check that.

i run a 275/60/15 no problem which is a width of 10.82" and highth of 27.99"
if you go with 275/50/15 that would be a width of 10.82" and highth of only 25.82" are you wanting a tire that short? ![]()

Are you running any aftermarket suspension? This is actually the biggest tire i've put on the car. I'm fine with the height of the tire, thats not whats rubbing. It's rubbing behind the tire. I don't understand because your running a bigger tire and have no issues but when I turn I def. hear a bad rubbing from the rear...i might just take a rubber hammar and hit the rear inner fenders in just a bit and see if that makes a difference. Other than that I have no clue whats going on with it.

I'm running 275/50/15 bfg Drag radials on 15x9 welds and the left side always rubs the inner fender when I hit big dips in the road or when I'm turning right and there's any sort of off camber. I have steeda sports springs so I't's a little lower than stock. I rolled the fenders and it helped but it still hits every now and then

Thats the exact same problem i'm having...i'm only hearing it when I turn right and the left side is the side thats rubbing. I guess just try to bang the fenderwell in a bit and let her eat.

Is your car lowered. Mine rubbed when i had those tires mounted on 10 holes. Only a little when leaving our track to the return road. You had to turn left up a hill.

Your body weight could be making the rubbing "one sided".

Right now I have 295-50-15 on my car (street tires) and 275-60-15 (drag radial) and never have an issue with clearance.. My car is lowered and I have the inner fender rolled and used a BFH to make a little extra clearance to the inner wheel well..

Notches have slightly more clearance from what I remember reading over on corral.net so that might help a bit but I know on both my 91gt and 88 hatch (both lightened up allot) with 275 mt et dr's they would rub. I had to bang in the inner fender slightly with a bfh and now they will only rub around corner when there's a bunch of females in the back
