The speed density cars had a bit different cam profile and are a bit faster than the mass air cars.....when you compare stock to stock.

Factory speed density hates cam changes. All other things can be modified.

Whats the main differences in the LX 5.0 and the GT models, is it just body parts or more?

Ground effects, front seats, and I think rear window defroster. There might be a couple more little things but its nothing big.

lx's could be ordered with all that listed above.. The last two i've owned was but besides that and some other tiny things the main difference are the fog ligths, gt spoiler and ground effects package.

Right, cept the seats were a 5.0L deal for 89, when they made the 5.0 package a seperate option, and about $2K more. My brother bought his first one, an 89 notch, and he had 'em. I'da gotten the nice seats on the new 88 LX hatch I ordered in late 87, but you couldn't have them for 88-didn't make me so happy, but that car sure did. I alway hated ground effects, and the real racers, on Chicago's south side anyway, all ran LX's.
