I started a new 347 build, need input!

I had a changeof plans and sold my 408w. I just picked up a 347 now. I would like to build a 347 in the ball park of 450-500hp (flywheel hp). I need to start from scratch other than the shortblock which is all forged and 10.9:1 with 58cc heads. I will be staying carburated. What do you guys recommend for heads, intake, cam and al the good stuff?

Well, got an offer on my 408 that I couldnt pass up to sell. For the right price everything is for sale.

I was also thinking in a 2100 pound car a 408 will be kinda ridiculous. I figured build a stout 347 drive for a year or 2 then build a 408 or 427 for it. I think a stout 347 should move the car nicely.

I'm building a factory five AC cobra kit car. That is what it is going into. Thats why I starting thinking a 347 would do nicely.

Well, they tested the factory five display car which made 298rwhp with a 3.55 gear and a t5. On street tires it ran 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds and 12.3@113mph in the quarter. The other kit they had was the identical set up but made 353rwhp and it ran 0-60mph in 3.6 and did the quarter in 11.9@119mph on street tires.

I figure if I can make 450-500 which should be somewhere between 380 and 420 to the wheels with a 4.10 gear it should be a mid 11 second car on street tires. That is quick enough for me at the moment.

Sweet! I just got their build/price lists emailed to me from their Canadian Dealer.

I'm thinking within 2 years I'll either sell my fox, and build one, or store the fox for my kid and build one. Let us know how the build progresses.

I think that car will be stupid fast with a well built 347.

Call Woody at Ford Strokers for the short block and call Jay Allen at Camshaft Innovations for the heads and cam. You can probably get it all from Woody actually as him and Jay do business transactions together.

No, they are not. Heads are rarely too big for an engine, although that is common to hear. Engines come from the factory these days with heads that are "too big". Look at LS1 engines for example.

Pretty much anything with the Trick Flow name on it is good.
