so wait your buddy ripped the oem motor out of his 93 cobra to install an oem 93 cobra r motor? there the same damn thing aren't they

anyway you just need to get the right pilot bearing and you can rock the 4 banger 5 spd

no need to shave the input shaft at all. It does NOT ride in the crank like most people think.

Just order a pilot bearing for a 83 ford ranger diesel. like 12 bucks

For starters, your buddy doesn't have an engine out of a 93 Cobra R. I'll bet a substantial amount of money on that because there were only 107 Cobra Rs built and the average Joe Blow on the street couldn't even think about buying one. Secondly, the Cobra R uses the exact same drivetrain (engine, transmission and rear end) as the street Cobra. There is NO DIFFERENCE between the engines.

The 4 cylinder trans will work, no need to grind the input shaft (which would be stupid anyway). You just need the correct pilot bearing. The gear ratios in a 4 cylinder trans are less than optimal for a 5 liter making that transmission a poor choice. In addition to that they are weaker than the V8 T5s. It would be foolish to use a 4 cylinder T5 in your car.

he checked the vin on the motor is was from a cobra r i know its the same motor but he just wants to put it in there just because its so rare. the 4cyl tranny is not ment to be permanent im going in the navy so im gonna use my sign on bonus to buy a tko 500 or 600 and a few other things. as long as four banger tranny will last a few month what kinda rear gears should i run.

This will be real easy to straighten out. Ask him for the number off the block and post it here. Better yet, take a picture of the casting number and post it. I'm sticking to my guns and calling BS on him.

Somebody offered him $12,000 for an engine with no cam or intake and he didn't take it? Both people are stupid, the guy offering the money and the guy refusing to sell.

The pilot bearing is the only thing you need. The V8 bellhousing will work and any V8 clutch will work. Civics will be out running you with that trans.

I'm an asshole and a shit talker because I don't sugar coat bullshit and tell people what they want to hear. I'd rather be an asshole than an idiot though. And I'd be an idiot if I told people what they want to hear so they would be happy.

dude skittle you gotta change your avatar pic.....I always go cross eyed looking at it...LOL seriously.......and I am sure Darrell is just sick of people getting on here giving bad info as are a bunch of us....I see people giving out info with NO first hand knowledge of mods of any kind, just trying to quote something they have heard or seen somewhere and its down right annoying. And darrell does know his shit...he has never steered me wrong nor anyone that I have seen and people still try to contest what he says or dont listen.....personally I like the "new" darrell...i mean 1slo5.0
