a stock cam is better than an off the shelf cam.

Because your gains will be minimal, it is a 20+ year old design, quality sucks, etc. But in the end, its your car and you can do what you want with it. Just don't expect any big gains. If it was my stock engine I'd put 1.7 rockers on with a stock cam before I would use any alphabet cam.

If you do decide to stab it in....Are you going to get the proper springs for the cam?

sounding pretty mean isn't what you should be shooting for. buy the best cam you can afford with supporting modifications to get the most you can out of it. ford alphabet cams are outdated in design and output. you can do much better. but if you want your car to sound cool then go ahead and slap it in

If your able to do the work yourself and don't mind doing the work twice, I say throw it in there... I had a B cam for for the longest time and I was happy with it. No it's not the best cam out there or the newest technology... but it works, sounds good, and a good learning experience for a cam install, just my opinion though...

Funny thing is that you can say that about any OTS cam

True, but if it's what he has and doesn't/can't get anything different, I say run with it... Also with the "B", it's not all that agressive so suporting parts aren't as necessary for say a TFS 1/2...? no?

I'd keep the stock HO cam if it was my car. Unlike 99% of the people on here I've done the a,b,c,d,lskjfoiueiraoejfaif cam swaps a many times in the past. I had a pretty much stock 88 GT that ran 13.40s. I put an F cam in and it still ran 13.40s.....with a b cam it ran 13.60s. Can't remember what it ran with the rest of the alphabet but the cam that ran the best with that set up was the stock HO cam even with the worn out stock valve springs. Some care about acceleration, while others care about being able to say "I have an XYZ cam in my car".
