Flywheel dowel pins

I got a 28oz pro comp flywheel for my 351 from late model resto and it does not include the pins. The tech guy at LRS says that they use the stock pins form a 50 oz flywheel but they just fall in the holes. Called procomp and they cant tell me anything about them. The holes measure .323. Does anyone know where i can get the dowel pins for this thing?

Throw it away. Seriously. Anything from pro comp is junk. I wouldn't use any pro comp crap if someone gave it to me and paid me to use it. Do some research on pro comp.

I could not agree more. Go to 460ford.com and see the threads about them there....

On a side note, aren't the dowel pins meant to fit snuggly into those holes? I know mine didn't just drop in, just wondering if I did something wrong...?

Yes they are supposed to fit tight and that is where my problem is. I cant find any that fit. LRS claims that the stock ones fit but they dont.

For what it would cost to send it back (because it is so heavy) i had rather try to find some dowels that fit first.

I'm not going to harp on this because it is your car and you can choose to put junk parts in it if you wish, but look at the problems you are having. Something so simple like boring dowel holes has been screwed up. What is the rest of it going to be like? Do you know why Pro Comp products are junk? Because they have shit quality control (which you are experiencing first hand right now). The quality control guy only gets paid for parts that pass inspection....so how many parts do you think get inspected???

I get what you are saying, but not everyone has money to throw around. I built this motor 5 years ago and have had the car down for almost 10 years because i have had to nickle and dime everything. Its not like i need this car on the road tomarrow. I have checked it on a lathe and it is true so i ok with using it as long as i can locate some dowels.

At this point i really dont care to hear about the quality issues anymore, i already know that. Can anyone give me any ideas where to get dowels?

I got news for those people, I work in a parts store and sell to my local ford dealer. Not motorcraft parts either. So when you get your car worked on at a dealer you may not be getting what you think.

easy there negative ned. we are not judging you at all, only trying to help. but you are being sensitive to the comments since they are not what you wanted to hear. the comment you made is ignorant, if you dont want to hear about quality then dont buy a crappy part and post here asking how to make it work. plain and simple.

I don't see how they can do that unless its some redneck outfit. Certianly isn't "genuine Ford parts" then. All it would take is one person to question it and the dealership would be in some hot water. They can't charge you for Ford parts and substitute off brand parts. That is illegal.

After talking (argueing)to LRS today i finially got them to agree to take it back. That was why i was not wanting to return it. Mail order returns are a hassle. There policy says that they will cover freight if a part is defective but they didnt want to pay up untill i asked him to go measure the hole in another flywheel, to which i was told that they dont do that kind of thing.

BTW, sorry if i rubbed anybody the wrong way. Its frusterating not being able to do anything about something because of the weekend
