Vortech boost ?
I'm new here, and have a question. Just installed a vortech v-1 sc trim on my 92 5.0 vert automatic. Doesn't start to make boost until the 3200+ range, trans shifts at 5400. And the most that I've on the gauge is @ 4 psi, should I upgrade to a larger crank pulley to bring the boost in lower, I'm going to install 3:55's(has 2:73). Currently running 19lb injectors, 70mm M/A, 190 lph pump, Have yet to install a typhoon intake w/ 70mm tb/spacer. Suggestions?

A centrifigul supercharger operates like that. The boost will not be instant like a positive displacement blower. Changing the pulleys will increase boost but won't make much of a difference for when it comes on. You are going to need bigger injectors if you turn the boost up at all.

yeah there are several upgrades you could probly benefit from with a blower...255 pump and probly 30 lb or bigger injectors bigger maf and throttle body....that intake isnt the best either....i realize you probly dont have money to throw around just letting you know....im not familiar with what charger is rated at what boost but what is that one advertised at

vortech tells you how much you each pulley change will give you in hp gains, as for running a smaller pulley you will notice a quicker boost build up at lower rpms because the supercharger is already spinning faster, and higher boost numbers, if i had it my way i would have gone with a twin screw kenne bell, no build up period, just straight up and constant power/boost

i dunno about a kenny bell twin on a push rod fox....
you have stock exhaust? one you free up the exhuast and intake side you should notice a big difference |

X2, that sounds right for a vortech... make sure you dont have any belt slip or boost leaks...

If your going to want more boost. Get a bigger maf, a good maf, a bigger throttle body, bigger injectors.
Lightning maf is about 80 bucks used 42lbers can be had for under 200. And a used pulley is cheap. What pulley is on your blower right now. I have a 3.33 pulley I'm trying to det rid of for 50 bucks.

You might look at the flipside of the equation, and work on getting your tranny to hold more rpm before it shifts. Maybe I'm out of the loop on 5.0s, but 5400 seems a little low as a full-throttle shift-point to me.

Try making making decent power and having to shift at 5600-5800 cause my junk ass p heads.
When my car was almotor it was off by less then 1k. But with the vortech when I hit 4500 sometimes it would hit the rev limiter depending on the gear I was in.

just depends alot of 5.0's stock one's anyway are usually out of breath by 5400 rpms, just depends on the head and cam set up
