Power door locks

For some reason, the power door locks on my car don't work.
On the passenger side, the lock sometimes gets stuck when you lock it manually, but, whenever you press the buttons, nothing happens.
Drivers side just doesn't lock, and the buttons do nothing.

Anybody know how to troubleshoot this? The windows, and power seat works, but not the locks, and in the book it says they're on the "Starter Motor Relay". I don't exactly know what this means, because I know nothing about electrical, nor what that is.

Can anybody help me out?

It's a 93 GT by the way.

Then you are going to have a hard time trying to fix any electrical problems.

At the very minimum get yourself a test light and see if you have power to the switch and out of the switch....if you have no power to the switch most likely a fuse or bad wire, if you have no power out of it, but have power to it, its the switch, if you have power in and out most likely the actuators (motors) or bad wiring....you are really going to need a voltmeter or a test light to get anywhere...With both of them not working I am guessing a fuse, so you might try that first.

if or when you do this remember when you test for voltage coming out of the switch you will want to push the button to complete the circuit

I had the same problem with my 89. I just took the door panel off, then on the wire going into the actuator, I checked it for power with a testlight. It is only powered when you press the unlock/lock button.

My problem was the actuator was shot. I got a new one on ebay for $9.99, problem solved. Ford wanted over $100 for the same part.

I didnt think I needed to explain that it should only be hot when you pushed the button but guess I was wrong....LOL....also you want to test it at the beginning of the wire near the switch or fuse.....and again at the other end of the wire to make sure there is not a break or a short in the wire, especially where it comes from the chassis to the door..after time the opening and closing the doors will break wires....
