Fuel burning is diffrent from detonation.

The proper burn starts at the plug(the kernelof the flame), working its way outward.

Detonation is when the fuel is all ignited at once and there is improper flame propagation.

Pre ignition is when the fuel ignites, before the spark plug can ignite it.

Knock, is a by product of, preignition, or detonation.
